that should be OK if 1 millsecond is the time required to process the 
parameter lock for all machines. If not, then we may have to face a 
delay ranging between 1 and 16 milliseconds. In the latter case, that 
would in fact produce some noticeable drops in the sounds.
But maybe I am talking a bit too much about something that doesn't 
exist ;)
