>what's that cool with the evolver!? > >listened to the demos and it sounds didn't impress me. >just analog wewewowo and stuff. Actually, I thought the same exact thing... in fact I would venture to say that all the demos up on the website are crap. But there is sooooo much potential for programming on this thing its unbelievable. First off the sound quality is so pure and silky smooth, the filter has a nice even response - and even when it self-oscillates it doesnt rob any low end. Plus its got an internal sequencer for each oscillator, which can play notes or modulate ANY parameter. But the real icing on the cake is the dual tunable feedback loops - holy shit those things are the bomb. Its like hendrix meets satan. THEN, there are also dual delay loops with two feedback points for each - one that feeds back around and another that feeds the feed back around. Basically they are much cooler as sound shaping tools than a straight delay FX. On top of all that, it has stereo inputs and outputs, so it could even be a multi-fx type box. All in all, it is like a new breed of analog (even though it is a hybrid) that caters much more to experimental types of sounds than classic bleeps and pads and leads. Trust me - you could do whole albums by just overdubbing this synth for every part. Its just a great value for the $$$. Im sad to say that it kicks the SIDs ass in the value department. But I have found that running the SID through the Evolvers analog filters with crazy feedback is like a fucking industrial meltdown. Al Jourgensen hasnt even come close to this shit... BTW - then inventor, Dave Smith, was the guy who designed ALL the Prophet synths, the Korg Wavestation and also Reality, which was the first soft synth. You can totally hear the legacy of the Prophet banging around in this box.
