Um, yeah - you're right! I was being duh. The MD outputs seem to run really hot, so even with my Yamaha 01V inputs on minimum, the signal distorts with just a little increment. Because the distortion sounded so musical, I assumed it was a deliberate MD effect! Oh well, as long as I know what it is. It seems like you get distortion IN the mixer (check with earphones plugged into MD). Well, if you like it, then you should try a dedicated overdrive unit and not stress that much your mixer :-) Are you sure that levels are set correctly? gain? any feedback?
