Yup, sounds like you might have some midi feedback.  Try unplugging all  
the midi cables and see what happens.  As for the Classic mode, I've  
often wondered if anyone uses it, but I always forget about it by the  
time I check my email.  I suppose it's useful for trying out one kit on  
different patterns, but I tend to work the other way (trying out  
different kits on one pattern)
