Elektron Musical Instruments

I've noticed lately that my MD no longer seems to recognize parameter 
locks.  I'm able to input them, but when the sequencer comes to them 
it's as though they aren't there.

Has anyone else experienced this?  I upgraded to 1.12b to see if that 
would clear it, but it didn't.  I'm emailing with Elektron about it, 
too, but I'm curious to know if anyone else has seen this behavior.

Without the parameter locks the sequencer isn't as interesting . . .

Is it possible that you turned Local Control off in the settings?  I  
did that once but because my MD was looping through Logic Audio it was  
still seeing the trigger messages, and because the MD doesn't send  
parameter locks over midi I thought they stopped working.  If you're  
using an external sequencer with only the MD (or with both the in/out  
of the sequencer going to the MD) and the squencer does midi echo I'd  
look to that as the culprit.

Try a soft reset.

Thanks for the replies.  I should have mentioned that I'm working in 
extended mode, sorry.  I'll check the local control setting when I get 
back to my MD, though - that sounds like a possible candidate.  I've 
been experiencing some other strange behavior from the MD (like the 
midi machines causing strange things to happen when certain notes are 
assigned) so it could be I'm just suffering from some kind of midi 
feedback.

Actually, does anyone work in Classic mode, anyway?  I've not felt any 
need to switch out of Extended since I got the MD.

Yup, sounds like you might have some midi feedback.  Try unplugging all  
the midi cables and see what happens.  As for the Classic mode, I've  
often wondered if anyone uses it, but I always forget about it by the  
time I check my email.  I suppose it's useful for trying out one kit on  
different patterns, but I tend to work the other way (trying out  
different kits on one pattern)
