I agree that the Sid has some quirks. But ultimately, it's about the
sound, right? You don't appear to be too fond of the sound, so I
don't blame you for not enjoying the Sid very much. But most Sid
owners will agree that they can quickly get over the Sid's quirks, due
to their love of its sound.

As far as the knobs: I felt the same way at first. And I was
considering purchasing/making a dedicated MIDI controller for the Sid.
But in actual use (i.e. live playing), I usually only want to modify
a couple of parameters anyway. So it would be overkill to have a ton
more buttons (but 8 programmable front-panel buttons would have been
pretty much perfect). And if I have more than four parameters that I
do want to change during a song, I can just assign the extra ones to
my MD (which I'm using to sequence the Sid) and change them from there.

As far as the display: it would be nicer to have a larger display,
something about the size of the MD display. But I can live with it
very happily as is. :-)

Joe.
