Yahoo are known for "security" issues: they have a management system which is very easy to pervert for spammers to grab every email in a group. I don't know if they sell the address also (if they do it must be told somewhere on yahoo groups) but the main problem is somewhere else. Note some spammers use bots also to check every email a provider has.
