Yes you can! I figured this out this weekend. It's easier than you may think: Setup the Evolver like i mentioned but set the Trigger sel of the program you only want to trigger notes to MID. The sequencer keeps running but won't trigger the envelopes, so you don't have to stop the sequencer.
