Re: Does anyone EVER talk about the SidStation here?

distinct rasping (Marmite) quality to it. It is more of a "bull in a
china shop" compared to the MD which is a cross between Mr. Miyagi
and The Terminator. but since It arrived yesterday the sounds have
so far been nothing but inspiring.

If I had a sampler I'd go nuts with the SS (SidStation).

The other night I broke my own record, by recording about ten seconds
of raw audio from the SS and then spent 4 or 5 hours taking little
bits from it and making whole new sounds out of them in SoundForge.
It sounds sad, but it's a functional exercise because it leaves me
with a library of archived sounds to call upon!

I think it's testament to the unique and inspirational sound of the
SidStation. I love the fact it is never quiet, it never stops, and
with some lucky settings, you can leave it and the sound keeps
evolving on its own for quite a long time.

I really consider the SS more of a "noise box", a generator of
abstract and unorganised sounds, than a synthesiser per se. I've
never used another machine that you could get so many unusual sounds
out of from just ten seconds of improvised audio!

Mind you, I downloaded some mp3s of the Moog Voyager (done by a user,
not the Moog site) and did the same thing, albeit with fewer
worthwhile results...
