A SID modeling chip certainly is a novel concept... but I don't think
there is nearly enough market. I mean... how many SidStations exist?
According to the old website, less than a grand. So, let's just say it's
a thousand. A thousand units sold in a year shows that the demand isn't
really that high.
Plus, remaking synths isn't really where the money is right now. Look at
the FutureRetro FR-777 and the Novation DrumStation. Two units that
totally kill the original unit (TB-303 and TR-808/TR-909 respectively) and
even though they sell for much less than the original unit, the demand
isn't anywhere near the demand of the classic.
I wouldn't be surprised if somebody makes a software emulator though.
There is a great Juno 6 emulator out for Linux now...
