Hi, well really theres no comparison, you could say the same for any 
piece of gear. Just read previous threads where peolpe have enquired. 
The Machinedrum is quite unique, can creat great sounds and has a 
hands on approach but costs quite a bit. Fruity is also great, can 
sequence synths and samples but only runs on Windows. I have heard of 
problems midi sync out in Fruity. IMO Machinedrum sounds are far 
better than any softsynth out there, plus its got knobs!!
