Re: [elektron] So how does the MM sound/work? Anyone?

Hi,

This is the way I justify the price of Monomachine:

1. I've never used any other music gear that is so inspiring to work
with and so easy than Machinedrum. With MD I really feel that I get
to do more creative choices than for example computer+mouse. I feel
like i'm exploring the musical dimension, rather than software
abilities. Yeah, I've tried reaktor (and granular-, fm- additive
and 'blahblah'-synthesis, vstis and many other stuff like that. But
in the end is it my MUSIC that I enjoy the most. The Cubase SX-seq
just isn't fun for me, I love the step seq (and I've tried the fruity
loops also, I don't like mousing). So it's the user-interface that
counts.

2. The sequencer makes the Monomachine unique. As people are always
searching for new sounds, I believe that any modern synth holds so
many possiablities that I could never run out of them. Take some
nord, virus, anything, if you can't make something unique with these
tools, you can't blame the tools (maybe you can blame your work
methods, for example mousing really isn't very interconnected to
musical expressions and feelings). I believe it's (unique sounds)
more in what notes you put after another than a 'all new resynthesis-
granular-phase-distortion-super-technology'. If you want to find
something from monomachine that isn't in another synths, without a
doubt, it's the sequencer, with parameter locks and trig tracks. With
only parameter locks in MD you could do some very expressive beat
programming. I'll bet it's the same thing with Mono.

Well, that's just my opinion and experiences. Everybody should search
for their own working methods. Working methods that don't need to
change after every new annoucement. This way we can consetrate on
music. As F. Zappa says: 'Music is THE BEST'

Toni.
