"... my friends in the crowd thought he was watching porn while playing a CD. Would anyone like to be like him? " lol...... well..... a little like him.... RDJ did a show one time where he just cued up his tracks on his laptop, pressed play, and then battled people from the crowd onstage on Sonic the Hedgehog over a projection screen. Nope, only using hardware. It's more reliable and more fun to work with.(IMO) I don't like to watch a performance where people are looking hypnotised at a laptop all the time. I once saw a guy at a live contest with only one laptop. He didn't look at the crowd once and was only looking at the screen like a statue. The people backstage where very dissapointed with this set and my friends in the crowd thought he was watching porn while playing a CD. Would anyone like to be like him? Also the less you look at screens and make music just by ear, the better it will get. Learn to work youre gear/sequencer like an instrument itself, you can make a true live performance this way. I think that elektron gear is perfect for this job.
