As Elektron gear is very live oriented I was wondering who of you guy's is doing live sets? I'm 100% into live now and would like to hear what and how others are doing. I will post some links soon to let you hear what i'm doing. Ronald.

Nope, only using hardware. It's more reliable and more fun to work with.(IMO) I don't like to watch a performance where people are looking hypnotised at a laptop all the time. I once saw a guy at a live contest with only one laptop. He didn't look at the crowd once and was only looking at the screen like a statue. The people backstage where very dissapointed with this set and my friends in the crowd thought he was watching porn while playing a CD. Would anyone like to be like him? Also the less you look at screens and make music just by ear, the better it will get. Learn to work youre gear/sequencer like an instrument itself, you can make a true live performance this way. I think that elektron gear is perfect for this job. Ronald.

We do a 100% hardware live act with a MPC2000xl, x0x and SIDstation with Sherman FB-1. Oh baby, I like it raw!

I'm fairly new to playing electronic music and although I enjoy some of the laptop jockeys' music , I think it's an incredibly boring thing to do live. therefore, I'm trying to stay away from it as much as I can. that's not too difficult because whenever I've tried softsynths (and even soft sequencers), I've been happy with the sound results but I tire of the creation method very quickly and I'm right back to hardware. > Also the less you look at screens and make music just by ear, the > better it will get. "playing" is actually a valid verb to proceed "Machinedrum." Joe

"... my friends in the crowd thought he was watching porn while playing a CD. Would anyone like to be like him? " lol...... well..... a little like him.... RDJ did a show one time where he just cued up his tracks on his laptop, pressed play, and then battled people from the crowd onstage on Sonic the Hedgehog over a projection screen. Sorry.... that rocks like birds! -0behn desu0- djbokuno.com ----Original Message Follows----

Sorry.... that rocks like birds! that is quite awesome. it would be cooler if there were some interaction between the game-playing and the music. like if somehow the game were to affect the sequencing or something. Didn't know they hosted such long files. Hadn't much time to listen the complete performance with full attention but skipping through it I liked what I heared very much! Did you build the arrangement with mutes and pattern switching or did you also use step record? Sounded a bit like FSOL, intended? Ronald.

Yeah, it was all patterns that I muted and switched (actually, you can hear I switched on the wrong pattern a couple of times, eh eh), twisted some knobs and added some stuff on the run. > Sounded a bit like FSOL, intended?
