Can't you do this already (amp delay) with the delay machine?  
I can't remember how much fine control you have over the timing of the
delay EFX (I'm not by the MD).  

You could use parameter locks to alter the send and mix of a MD step to
the delay EFX machine, the only limiting thing would be that you only
have one delay EFX, so each track would have to share it.  But you could
in effect delay a single step by a small amount (no feedback, 100% wet
delay mix).

Just thinking out loud.

Of course, you are right about that, didn't think of that. Well, that's
the reason you're a developer and I'm just a user ;-)
