I agree that they are a bit rougher to turn. But it's not because they're of lesser quality. According to Elektron (check the archives at the yahoo site for their comments), they had the encoders specificaly re-designed for this feature and will soon be using them on the MD's. Having cracked mine open to clean the LCD screen, I got a good look at it's guts :-) And I don't think that there's much room for adjustment there. But I could of course be wrong.
