You'll have to press paste on the first note when changing to an empty pattern. Also (if you didn't know) you can experiment with scale lenghts in realtime. Start with only 1 measure (16/16) or even shorter (8/16 for half a measure) and when progressing the song you can change the lenght in realtime revealing more changes in melody or motion. And of course don't forget the arp. You can program a melody with some short notes and while playing switch on the arp and press and hold some other notes, the results can be very good! Also try different step values for the arp to create moving timings. Ronald.
