Elektron Musical Instruments

hi all,

i apologize if this message has already gone through before. 
my previous attempts were getting bounced back to me.this 
message was sent directly off of the onelist site.

anyway........

i am planning on getting a new synth soon and 
i have been considering a sidstation. 
 
although i am interested in making all kinds of odd sounds, i am presently 
most in need of synth basses. particularly tight, strong, beefy basses with 
a very fast attack. how well does the sid perform this sort of task?
btw...if it helps at all to know my style...i write electro/gothic/industrial.
 
also, i noticed that the sid has an audio in but i couldnt find much info 
on it. am i correct in assuming that this is for plugging other synths 
into the sid's filter? how does it sound? i'd really like to have an analog 
filter to occasionally use with my K5000s. it would be nice if i could just 
get a sid and not have to get something like a waldorf 4-pole too.
