ok. I think I get how its supposed to work. the split point just
splits the tracks into two sections: those above and those below. the
ones who are less-then or equal-to the chosen track number are played
by notes below the split point. those who are greater-than the track
number are played by notes who are equal-than or greater-to the split
point.

that's exactly how I want it to work! I want to be able to play two
different tracks when I use the keyboard - one track above the split
point and one below it. and I want to be able to play these two tracks
now matter what the actively selected track is. and this should be
done while the sequencer is running and trigging the other tracks
(thus they can't be muted at the time).

failing this, I'd like to be able to choose one track to be played by
the keyboard regardless of which track is active. currently, this
can't be done (without muting tracks; and that can't work because I'm
having the sequencer trig those tracks). BUT if you allow the track
split number to go down to one than this can be accomplished by:
mapping the track to be trigged to track one, choosing track one as
the split track and setting the split point to be the uppermost note.

but really, I think it would be nice to have split mode play one track
above and one track below the split point. isn't that how synths
normally treat keyboard splitting? would it be possible to add such a
split mode and then change the name of the current split mode to
"multi split"? both are useful, but I would imagine that the former is
useful more often than the latter. what do the other MnM users think?

Thanks for the reply, Daniel!

Joe.
