I wouldn't use it at all.  For two reasons:

1 - The point of the MD for me is it's builtin UI.  Using a software 
controller for something like it would seem totally counterintuitive 
for me.

2 - That being said, certain conveniences when having it live in your 
studio are nice.  However, Logic's environment has allowed me to get 
that done in spades
