POLL -machinedrum and sounddiver- POLL

2003-12-27 by fotofono

I'm trying to find out if there is any interest for machinedrum
support in emagic's sounddiver universal editor - librarian.
this would provide an easy way of recalling patterns + kits in a
external sequencer environment and would also allow to bypass (if one
likes) the internal 64 kit limit.
anyone interested please vote in the polls section.
if enough people vote for this ,
we could ask for electron to provide it.
I think that the sysex specs of the MD permit integration in
sounddiver.
thanks.

I wouldn't use it at all. For two reasons:

1 - The point of the MD for me is it's builtin UI. Using a software
controller for something like it would seem totally counterintuitive
for me.

2 - That being said, certain conveniences when having it live in your
studio are nice. However, Logic's environment has allowed me to get
that done in spades

The librarian aspect would be much appreciated. I hate midi dumps...
I prefer to shuffle patches about with sounddiver.

What about MidiQuest Support? What about the other Elektron devices
like MD and the SidStation? I would like to see that :)

My point is that there are many options of editors and there are many
unsupported machines. The problem is that it is up to the company
that puts out the software NOT the company that creates the hardware
to add support to these programs. I am sure Elektron has nothing
against other companies supporting their hardware...but they really
dont write the software packages either...

I was talking mainly for librarian support in sounddiver or other app.
and because sounddiver is the "industry standard" of midi librarians,
as far as i know.
of course i wouldn't care much for editor capabilities since it would
be silly to replace a wonderful hardware interface with sounddiver,
but for anyone using md with a sequencer in the studio, the ability
to restore kits saved in the computer is more than welcome.
load a song in the computer sequencer,
hit play and the appropriate kit /pattern is dumped via sysex in MD.
