RE: [elektron] Re: MD into Ableton Live

2003-12-30 by Cryogenick

My current live setup is currently a pc laptop running Live, and a layla24,
I have it set up so A and B are dry, C and D go to an electrix mo-fx, E goes
to a moogerfooger mf-101, and F is a 3rd dry signal, all going to ins 1-6 on
the layla, and then through live via 6 live input channels.
With this setup its pretty easy to switch a few wires around and have a send
in live send to the md's in's for some real fun :-)

I'm just getting my way around an Ableton demo with my powerbook
too. Your inputs on the sound card depend on whether you're going
to use the other outputs and inputs on the Machinedrum. I say start
simple.
If you are going to use other options you might as well lose a bit
money than waste alot of money on something you dont use. The 828
is nice for all the routings but you may not use them all. If you
are going to record different inputs of the machinedrum into
Ableton and record it all in some other software in the mac get
something like 828. You might be better off with a Berhinger and an
Indigo io if you aren't too sure. Does the Indigo have midi io? Of
course middle of the road is nice with the 410 instead of the
Indigo. You could wait for some of the new Ego-sys stuff.

You could route audio machinedrum > mixer > interface. I don't see
a reason to record the MD in Ableton much. You need midi wise
machinedrum > interface. Interface is your Indigo, 410, or 828.

You are going to need some 1/4"(stereo pair) audio cables and two
short midi cables at least.
