The general reaction from people we demonstrated the Monomachine to at the NAMM show was that it sounded fantastic. Also from a strict "sound quality" aspect. Several people simply said it was the best sounding current synthesizer, and that it is able to supply a bottom end not many synthesizers can offer. Another reaction was that the joystick was really a big part of the experience of the Monomachine. I don't think we got one single person in there that we didn't impress with the sounds! Whether that was because of well programmed presets, a good sound system or maybe actually a good sounding product is not up to me to judge. The demos of the webpage are quite early examples, and we should try to get new ones now that people get more used to it. I think playing with the presets for a while would give a better idea of what it is about. ...and about the so called limitations... We have tried to give uable controls, so that they spur creativity, rather than give all possible possibilities. For example, that's why the unison width for the five main oscillators of the SuperWave Saw is controlled by only one parameter. That makes it more usable in our opinion than having individual detunes that you never would bother to edit. It's all about the results, isn't it. That's also why we think it is a major achievement to have an FM synth controled with seven basic controlers, all which does relevant actions, rather than all the parameters in the world, but stick to presets as you never bother to figure them out.
