I think boring is very subjective. Something can be repetitive and meditati= ve without being "boring". IMO a repetitive track can be effective if all the = elements are "in the pocket". With that said, I think the flaw in your trac= k is the bass-line it strikes me as a little stiff. With a down-tempo track it see= ms you'd want a sexy, laid-back slide to the bass-line. In particular, the thi= rd note sounds a bit off I'm not great with pitch (being a drummer), but to my ea= r the third note doesn't "sing", it's a little "flubby" are there two pitches t= here? You might also move the note a little behind the beat. The 4th, 5th and 6th not= es; also too stiff, might try swinging the quantize there or better yet, pitc= h bend the 5th note into the 6th. A friend once said (wisely), "if you establish a= strong bass (base?) you can build mountains..." --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, "Ronald Vonk (Roonan)" <info@r...> wrote: > Again been busy with Downtempo. > Not sure if it's good enough for next weeks Diesel U-Music contest. > I always want to put in more and more, I've got the feeling this one is a= > litlle boring, > anyone................? > http://home.planet.nl/~vonk0072/Demo/Roonan-Demo-2004-004.mp3 > ( it's another jam with the awesome trio Mnm, MD and ESX-1) > > Ronald.
