I've only heard of one person who had problems with his and he travelled with it frequently and seemed to have a not-so-great case. the encoders are plastic so they are of course more brittle than metal counterparts and if you place enough sideways force on them they will break. so just keep this in mind when you're handling/packing it and you should be fine. and regarding the knobs falling off of the encoders themselves....I doubt it. I've had to take them off before on both my MD and my MnM and it was not easy. so unless you've popped them on and off a bunch of times, they should be very tight on there. Hope that helps! Joe
