I'm seeing Tortoise next week and I'm incredibly excited about it! I missed them last time and they're one of my favorite bands. > does anyone know offhand of any tracks of theirs that have the sid or > md on them? I don't know off hand. but there's some things to note. first, Soma is owned/run by John McEntire who is part of Tortoise as well as the drummer for the Sea and Cake (also a great band). John went to school for electronic music and has studied synthesis exclusively, so it's not surprising that he has the great gear that he does at Soma! I've looked around the Sea and Cake forum a bit and John's been known to answer questions about what gear was used. In fact, he once gave a run down of all synths that were used on the Sea and Cake's "One Bedroom" and the SID was among them. anyway, if you ask in the Tortoise website's forum, he may answer this question for you.
