i experienced exactly the same with monomachine; there was some shit 
behind the lcd when i received the synth. luckily i asked what's the 
score from the support and they told not to remove the 
knobs/panel 'cos i'd most propably end up with a broken knobs. i 
guess i have to just live with it... :(
