Re: Reverse Cymbal sound from MD

2004-06-06 by belplascaprod

Hi everybody

I haven't been active on this list for a while, so here comes a late
suggestion to achieving a reverse cymbal:

My usual "trick" to make sounds fade in slowly is to assign the LFO
to volume (invert single-cycle ramp, trig position) and then adjust
the depth and speed settings.
If you want the sound to be chopped off, just enter a new event with
volume lock programmed to 0. Nice way of exploiting the fact that
each machine is monophonic.
I think this will work quite well with a reversed cymbal sound. Just
use the E12 crash cymbal set to max level. Btw, I once made a kit
consisting only E12 ride cymbals, tweaked to the unrecognisable. :)

The downside of this way of programming is that you might get a click
when the MD triggers the sound.

Regards,
Nils
