"EFX recommendations for the sid?  I was think about getting a nice
distortion pedal(Boss MT or an Ibanez BN or SM-7), but has anyone else come
across something that made the sid sound extra nice?"

A Korg Kaoss Pad, funny to use and wonderful effects. Preset 21, a nice
emulation of a tape echo, gives the Sid a tasty ambient edge... also presets
for filtering, distortion, and lots of modulations, twekable with just the
touch of a finger...
