OK. First you can only record from your Line-In unless you have an AUDIO INTERFACE. The midiman is obviously a midi device only. You have to choose that midi device only in your Utility>AudioMidi setup. And maybe in Peak if Peak allows for any Midi. The only way you are going to be able to record now is with Line-In input. Unless you go out and buy an audio interface. Now I believe for right now you can download Line-In program to help you record direct in the audio input on the Powerbook. http://www.macmusic.org/softs/view.php/lang/EN/id/1674/ Then you have to choose this for the preferences in Peak. I'm going to download the trial version of Peak. I was meaning to check it out. Hope this helps.
