MD Help (cntd.)

Let's see ...

Can anyone help me with getting my MachineDrum to work with my
PowerBook G4? I am using MIDIMAN UNO 1x1 MIDI Interface and in my
Audio/MIDI Setup I am connected to Port 1. However, I am unable to choose
"Port 1" as a device in my Sound Preferences. Line-In and Internal
Microphone are the only two devices that I am able to choose from in my
Sound Preferences. My goal is to be able to record into Peak live the
MachineDrum.

hi,

MIDI doesn't transmit audio signals, just control signals. if you want to record the
MD into, say, peak, you'll need to connect the MD's audio outputs to your laptop's line-level
input... or an audio interface, which, if the powerbook's inputs are as noisy as every
other notebook's that i've heard, is the preferable choice.

OK. First you can only record from your Line-In unless you have an
AUDIO INTERFACE. The midiman is obviously a midi device only. You
have to choose that midi device only in your Utility>AudioMidi setup.
And maybe in Peak if Peak allows for any Midi.

The only way you are going to be able to record now is with Line-In
input. Unless you go out and buy an audio interface. Now I believe
for right now you can download Line-In program to help you record
direct in the audio input on the Powerbook.

Then you have to choose this for the preferences in Peak. I'm going
to download the trial version of Peak. I was meaning to check it out.

Hope this helps. I'll get back to you.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
