Christopher and Charles - Thanks! After some tweaking I realized that Live can recieve clock from the MD and pass it on to the G2. No MIDI thru or re-wiring needed! Cheers, Mikael -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Version: 7.0.300 / Virus Database: 266.4.0 - Release Date: 2005-02-22

Hi again... After playing around with the MD and G2 (through Live) tonight - I realize that this solution doesn't click at all... Even though I have adjusted the delay compensation in Live - they don't sync at all. So I looked at M-Audio's midi merger. Does anyone have any experiences? I was thinking MD and Live merged->G2 using the MD clock and the Live sequencer. What do you think? Cheers, Mikael

I think that's getting really complicated really quickly and working more on getting the basic units synching would be a better immediate plan. What kind of audio card are you using? midi interface?

I'm using the STAudio (ESI drivers) for sound and Midisport 4x4 for midi.

What is your overall system latency? If you have higher than, say 5ms of latency, I think you'll notice the delay. /Scott Christopher Mitchell wrote:

I found a latency of about 20ms when syncing to the MD clock. Sure - I notice it, but I compensated for it in the Live options. But when I played around with it, it all seemed unstable. So that's my main concern. This is when trying to sync the MD and G2 via Live. (MD->Live->G2) /Mikael

I would try MD->G2-> Live and not introduce any possible extra latency from the software. that way you know that if the MD and G2 are in sync, the only part you need to tune up is Live. Or alternately run Live->MD->G2, and tune the audio latency on Live to match what gets played in midi. I'm not familiar with the ESI cards / drivers so I don't know what kind of performance to expect from that.

I hate to say it - but don't you just love computers? I say ditch 'em. Say goodbye to USB and latency forever and just go with the hardware. --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, "Lo-Fi Massahkah" <music@l...> wrote: > I found a latency of about 20ms when syncing to the MD clock. Sure I could go with the MD and G2, only! But, for now, I want Live to be part of my setup! Cheers, Mikael -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. The more I try to incorporate my computer into my setup, the more frustrated I seem to get . . . anyhow, I'll cut short before I start ranting ;) ao.
