Sidstation Final 200

Sidstation Final 200

2005-03-05 by Col Dee

Just wanted to ask if anyone thinks this may be a marketing ploy on
Elektron's part. You know, the whole Final 100 edition now being
revealed as a red herring that allowed Elektron to charge more money
than they previously had for the Sidstation - followed a year later
(once the dust has settled) by another 100 final Sidstations.

It just seems a bit strange to me. Not that I'm not delighted that
100 more people will have a Sidstation pretty soon.

I'm not sure that it is like that. They probably just
found some more sid chips and decided to go for it.
100 isn't that many really. It is still reasonably
priced for a machine that is not mass produced.

I think you missed the deal with elektron, there real dudes like you
and me, not some limited-edition market terrorists, if they make
another 500units its still a unique machine you have, the final
100edition. Just feel happy for the happy 100 that gets a shiny/new
Sidfellow!

If i could afford i would be happy to lay my hands on a a second
sidstation no mather wich verision, some times i imagine the thrill in
having 2 SS running mad tables or one playing a fonkybassline with the
other punching out hubbard lead.... maan.... that would make me
shivver....
