Sidstation noise solutions...

2005-04-06 by zodbot127

Hi

I'm new to the forum and to the sidstation. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a
plugin for os x (vst/au) for filtering out some of the noise from the sid chip. I would prefer
a free plugin but if there is one for a modest price that does a better job I would be willing
to shell out the cash.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

-Dan

are you looking for a realtime filter or a noise gate?

I use a DBX compressor limiter gate, and use the gate function when i use the sidstation. but you can get a simple guitar pedal noise gate.

There are some cheap noise gates, on ebay or at 2nd hand stores i found lots of nice 2nd hand gear at http://www.cashconverters.com/ select you country to find one near you.

I'm not too sure which I'm looking for, I've checked out the
digitalfishphones stuff but I'm not sure if the floorfish is sufficient
for the sid or maybe I'm just not setting it right. If you can provide
any recommendations based on your experiences it would be much
appreciatted.

thanks

a filter is not really the appropriate machine.. i would reccomend
getting any noisegate for the sid. or embrace the ghosts!
