Two questions...

Two questions...

2005-05-13 by M-.-n

Hello guys,

I've got two question I'd like u expert to answer: one for the MD and the other for the MnM.

For the MD, I'd like somehow to trigger some/all drums from an audio signal. I've seen reference in the manual to the external trigs on channels a&b but absolutley nothing about how to use those... has anybody experience with it ?

For the MnM, I'd like to know if the parameters locks can be desynchronised from the main sequencer... for example; I'd love them to go about 6 times faster and restart everytime a new note is started.. does the MnM do that at all ?

Thanks !

i reckon you could do this with careful application of the
LFOs.

I'm pretty certain that you have to sync the parameter locks with the
main sequencer. You could probably get some similar effects with
LFO set to Trig, running at a speed which is a multiple of the main
tempo.

...but, if you're looking for parameter lock sequences
running at different speeds and lengths a la the quasimidi
polymorph, that's a no-go.

Unless you buy two :) I'm so tempted to get another...

I think M-.-n's going after kinda like what you can do with the arpeggiator
when you want to make really gamey sounds with the sid section, that sort of
idea.

one option i've meant to play with for awhile is to feed the
midi outs into the midi ins, and modulate parameter locks
via CC from the MD itself. i do the bulk of my sequecing in
digital performer, though, so it hasn't been a priority.

Yes totally.. the thing is that LFO's are nice but u don't have
the 'stepped' ability to modulate quickly and *precisely* parameters.
Since all the UI for what I'd like to do is there in the locks, the
only thing I am really missing is the speed and the ability to re-
trigger the lock sequences for each note. I think it would enhance
greatly the sonic possibilities of the MnM and would then totally do it
for me::::

Yeah..my other option is to couple MnM & a nord G2. I could trigger
step sequencers in the G2 from the note triggers of the MnM and output
the sequencers as CC back into the MnM;;

But that's a pretty pricey combo....
