Anyone use a MachineDrum to make complete tracks?

Anyone use a MachineDrum to make complete tracks?

2005-05-29 by taco6

I own a Monomachine and have been making complete hip-hop songs using just the
Monomachine. I like my stuff minimal and it works for me. Sure, it is a pain to make the
drums sounds different all of the time...but it is cool working with restraints. Anyway, my
next hardware purchase will be the MachineDrum. I have a feeling I will be able to make
complete beats with that only as well. Anyone doing this? Oh course the two together will
open up a ton of possiblilites.

complete beats? certainly, along with fx and even some
melodic elements, but you may have a faster go at the latter
with the monomachine. i've got a lot of synths in my
little bedroom studio, but post-moving laziness has kept me
working with just the mono and md, and i'm well pleased with
the results.

aleph null. a simple insinuation around silence.

Ok, let me re-phrase. Does anyone make complete songs
with just a machinedrum? I do with the monomachine.
I think this works easier in hip-hop or in clicks and
cuts style stuff then in other genres though (anything
minimal).

definitely... when i first got my MD i made a bunch of minimal loops that
when muted/unmuted and a few pattern changes added in would be great
"complete songs" in the minimal/dance/drummy sense. Actually, if I had to
choose between the two I'd keep the MD because the instruments are very
flexible. You can make a lot of melodic / bass elements out of the drums.

since we just moved the only gear i have with me now is my MD next to my
bed with headphones. It's a very entertaining box on its own.

Kind of makes me want to trade my sfx6 for a 60.

I've been working on MD tracks only, using the e12 machines for leads
etc., w/ pretty decent results!

Right now I'm focussed on real-time jamming, which is a blast w/ the
MD! However, I haven't been recording :( When I do, I'll post some
samples . . .

ao.
