sidstation+software sequencer question

sidstation+software sequencer question

2005-07-13 by Philippe Duhart

Here's my situation: I have owned a SidStation for
some time now. I would like to integrate it fully with
my various softsynth programs. I am looking for a
sequencing program to integrate the SidStation with
these other programs.
My questions are simple:
1) What program is suitable for sequencer hardware
synths in general and the SidStation in perticular? I
own 2004 Cakewalk Music Creator, but rarely use it. I
am also looking at Ableton Live 4, which seems to be
floating around eBay for less than $300.
2) What hardware will I need to connect the SS to the
program? I own the M-Audio Ozone and UNO 1X1. Will I
need to purchase a 2X2?
Keep in mind that I am a poor, hungry student who
approaches music as a hobby. Therefore, I don't intend
to shell out a ridiculous amount of scratch...
Thanks,
Philippe

I've never used that version of Cakewalk, but I like Ableton Live.
It depends a lot on what your workflow is and what you're making. If
Cakewalk is what you're comfortable with I say use it. Any midi
sequencing software can control hardware synths.

The Ozone has USB, right? Just use that to connect it to the PC and
use the 1x1 to hook up the Sidstation. If that's not an option then
you'll need a 2x2 (or another 1x1 :)
