SFX-6 Multimap woes!

SFX-6 Multimap woes!

2006-02-21 by Adam

OK... Before I bother Elektron support with this one, I wanted to run
this by you guys.

Multimap does not seem to function correctly for me. Am I
misperceiving its use? I've tried many variants, and none of them
worked as expected.

Here's the most recent example of confusion:

Example:

I set up just two ranges,

C-0 E-0 CUR 00 08 --- DIR
F-0 B-9 CUR 08 04 --- DIR

Now I select a pattern. Now, I both put the SFX-6 in multimap mode
and tried plugging in an external keyboard on the multimap channel.

I've walked the entire range of notes on all octaves on both the
monomachine, and the external keyboard. It starts playing the first
eight steps of the pattern each time I hit a key, and it transposes
what's playing, but no matter what key I hit it never jumps to
playing the eighth through twelfth steps of the sequence.

Is this how it's supposed to function? It's my understanding that if
I hit any notes from and including F-0 it should play a different
part of the pattern.

I'm hoping I can get a definitive answer from this list as Elektron
support was both unhelpful and unscrupulous with problems I had when
I purchased the machine. (they replaced my monomachine with different
machine which has a bum encoder and a sticky joystick, but with a
software update which fixed the problems I specifically called out
and asked wether or not were software or hardware related (freezes)
and expressed that I'd be happy to wait for a software update if that
was the case. )
