Another weird thing w/ SysEx dump (Re: [elektron] SIDStation OS version & stuff)

Something else...

I just tried dumping one single patch, instead of all patches. Here's
what happened:

Patch 0 is "SFX/Fire" (something I made just to experiment w/ noise
wave). I have other patches up to patch #8. Patches 9-99 were empty.

Now, I went into the MIDI-OX program to capture the SysEx dump as I was
going to dump only Patch 0. The SIDStation said "Patch Sent", but while
it said it was sending, MIDI-OX reported no data coming through (and yes
all the cables are connected fine and all that).

However, there was a patch #9 -- an exact copy of patch #0, when there
was no patch #9 before. So all the Single-Patch sysex dump did was it
copied the patch I intended to Sysex-send to the next available free
patch slot.

Perhaps I should just buy a Commodore 64 =/

OK, this explains some things. Somehow you must have routed the OUT of the
SidStation back into the IN. This also explains the strange crashes, as
the SidStation doesn't like to receive at the same time as it sends - even
though it does it's best (as you could see from your example).

Perhaps you use some MIDI interface/router that could do this without your
knowledge?

Machinedrum Manual

2001-06-25 by rehills@uss.com

Daniel,

I know you're hard at work, finishing the Machinedrum manual, but, I
was wondering if you would let us take a look at the current version
of the manual.

Thanks.

Rick
