the silver brick sitting in front of me..

the silver brick sitting in front of me..

2007-03-25 by Tony

yesterday i went into my studio to find that my MonoMachine will NOT
power up. At first I thought may be the PSU had gone bad, but after
swapping it with the MachineDrum (which I believe uses the same one) I
still got nothing (and the MachineDrum powered fine from the
MonoMachines PSU, so I know the PSU is working).

The unit is less than a year old, and I am hoping it is just a fuse
inside the unit (its the table top model). Does anyone know if
Elektron has certified technicians in the US? It would really be silly
to have to ship it back to sweeden for a bad fuse. of course, I only
assume its a bad fuse...

The unit has only had light use, and never been outside of my studio.
Its really a let down. If it is a fuse, i dont know what could have
popped it and none of the other gear in my studio. the UPS on my
computer doesnt show any major spikes from the past few days.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

i wouldn't interchange the powersupplies... i think they are different. i coudl be wrong. i
remember reading in the manual that you should "only use the supplied power supply" .

you should contact elektron directly though as i'm sure they can tell you better than
anyone how to procede.

good luck

sounds like the fuse. there is a fuse in there that can be easily
replaced, so just be extremely careful removing the knobs as broken
shafts are quite possible on certain batches of mnm
good luck
