Its most likely the amount of data being generated by the x/y pad, Midi is a serial protocol and is not really designed for lots of continuous data, the keyboard (sfx-6) version has no problem with glitches even when having parameters assigned to all 6 tracks at the same time. I would suggest thinning out the data if possible to see if that helps.

I bought a new Remote SL keyboard and tried to control the joystick
with the x/y-pad. In particular for up and down I get very annoying
artefacts in the sound on the mono, as if it cant process all the midi
comming in or something. To be clear, I manually go to the filter page
and twist the lp-cutoff and it behaves as it should. Then I set it to
50% and assign lp cutoff to the up/down joystick with +64 and use the
x/y pad on the Novation instead. The sound becomes very strange with
highly audible digital artifacts and distortion. I have checked nothing
else is assigned to the joystick and I have recorded my x/y midi in
Cubase to check the x/y-pad isn't sending crap data. I have no clue
what is going on. Any one else had this problem or general
recommendations on how to get this to work? OS is 1.08b.

[elektron] having problems syncing via midi

2007-06-17 by Luke Sanger

Firstly, hello everyone!

New MD user of around 2 months and I've been busy writing patterns etc..

I feel ready for taking it out live with me and plan on starting with
just the MD synced to Ableton via my fireface 400.

I'm having trouble getting the 2 to sit perfectly in time, even when
the MD is either master or slave the two together clash like a bad DJ
mix!

Also when using live it would be great to tweak parameters live (eg
pitch, delay etc.) id there a way of doing this without permanently
change my patterns?

Any help would be most appreciated as I've got a gig on friday ;)

cheers!

Luke

In live, you have the option to delay (or move forward) the midi clock
for each midi port separately. (it's in the midi setup in option...).
Use it, tune it, love it! =)

wicked, cheers Patrik..

Anyone know about non-destructively tweaking stuff live?

about tweaking, you can mess around as much as you want. just as long as you don't save
the kit you'll loose nothing. do you know the function+classic/extended key combo? this
will revert the current kit to it's saved state. so you can freak all you want and with a key
press you're back to the original. great fun live...
