Different MIDI send channels for each track?

Different MIDI send channels for each track?

2007-05-21 by Nico Grubert

Hi there,

this is my first posting on this mailing list so first
of all I'd like to say "hello" to all other
machinedrum users.

Now, back to topic:
I want to use the machinedrum to control an external
synthesizer (dave smith evolver).
It seems, that all 16 machinedrum tracks use the same
MIDI channels for sending and receiving. What I want
to do is: I want to use only track 16 ("M4") to send
MIDI notes to my synthesizer. But at the moment all
tracks send MIDI data to my synth so if all 16 tracks
of my machinedrum are playing my synth sounds crazy.
How can I define that tracks 1-15 send MIDI data only
to MIDI channel 1-4 and track 16 ("M4") sends MIDI
data to channel 5 ?
Is that possbible?

I just want exactly one track of my machinedrum to
send MIDI data to my synth while all the other tracks
play the machinedrum's internal sounds.

Regards
Nico

Hi Nico.

When setting up your kit, make sure to affect a MID machine to track 16. Choose
appropriate midi channel settings for both the machine and your synth. You're done.

Excellent! Thank you very much. It works! :-)
The next question is now: How do I assign a different pitch to each step?
I have set the following steps (LED is on):
[1] [4] [7] [10] [13]

Is it possible to set different notes (e.g. C1 for [1], E1 for[4], C3
for [7[, etc.)?

I could not find anything in the manual...

use parameter locks to change the machine´s midi note

Hi,
I'm brand new here as well. I'm trying to got the MD to trigger samples on the sp-303.
All night long and no luck. Here's what I've done:
I set the current kit so that track 16 is a MID synth
I set the MID to the MID-05 machine
I set my sp-303 to receive on MIDI channel 5.
I've played with parameter locking to verify that each step is sending out note data that is
within range of my SP303 (I tested the sp303 with a keyboard to mack sure it was
receiving ok).

I've tried all night long.... What am I doing wrong?

thanks,
-tom
