maybe just mine or my inexperience

Hey guys, I received my MachineDrum right as my cable modem connection was being fixed and I was called to a meeting explaining the layoffs at work, so perhaps I don't have the best perspective. Regardless, in my very brief time with the MachineDrum I listened to it completely through the headphone jack and I noticed an unexpected floor of noise when I turned the volume up to 3/4 through full settings. This was using the default kit and the default settings, so perhaps this is a side effect of some default DSP effect going on but I doubt it based on the fact it had no apparent cycle to its nature, simply sounding like white background noise. Have other people noticed this? Is this perhaps simply a matter of the quality of its headphone jack as opposed to its regular outputs? I'm not sure when I'll have the time to play around with it as much as I'd like; I'm sure before the end of the week but still I'd like to others' thoughts on what may be causing this disappointing sound quality (and yes, I'm using the U.S. power adapter in a standard US two prong outlet.) Anyway, I still have yet to discover all the power that lie beneath the surface but hopefully that's near to come and the bg noise is near to go. I do concur wth the look and feel being pretty impressive although I must say that the buttons are much lighter than I thought they'd be considering all the comments on sturdiness and feel of the unit. I suppose this doesn't help my image as a broken cog in the works of Elektron's attentive fans but then again this is the most expensive instrument I've ever purchased so I have to be rather critical of it. Of course, if i buy the new minimoog then all the pressure is off.
