MnM - plastic covering is coming off

MnM - plastic covering is coming off

2007-08-08 by samuel_zaech

hello fellow elektrons

i noticed that the plastic covering off my MnM came off in the middle.
it's still fix at the left and the right end, but not in the middle. A
bit like an arc. it makes it difficult to push down and turn the knobs
precicely.

Do any of you know if i can just glue it back on. Or will this create
any problems if i (or elektron) have to open up the unit in the
future? or could the glue damage something essential?

i can not send in the unit for repair atm. i need it in the studio and
there are gigs lined up. i'm looking for a temporary solution. i will
send it in anyway, but right now i cannot do without my beloved MnM

thanks a lot for your time and ideas.

Sam

Hi,

I had the same problem, I fixed it myself with email help of elektron
support.

First you have to remove the knobs gently, then remove the plastic cover,
and using two sided stickers, glue the plastic cover again.

Be VERY careful, if you cannot remove a knob, dont force it, otherwise that
knob cannot be repaired..

I highly suggest you to send to elektron support..or be very very careful
about what you are doin J

Bests

Goktug.

i've taken both md and mnm's apart before. do not use a screwdriver
to pry the knobs off. its tempting, as they're on there very
tightly. but you can do it with just your fingers. just pinch it
with your thumb and first finger and wedge your fingers against the
face plate to apply pressure there while pulling upwards. it'll take
a minute, but they'll come up. the main thing is to pull straight
up. do not put any sideways pressure on or you'll snap the encoder
and you'll have to send the whole unit in to replace it.

anyway, it can be done and it's not that bad but you just need to be
careful. good luck!
