Live recording mode.. SPS-1UW

2008-02-21 by Michael Greene

HI all,

Been lurking for a bit, so here's my first question..

Does anyone have a tutorial or simple walkthrough on how to record
live on the SPS-1UW? Something stupid simple on my MC-505 and MC-307
but I just can not get it on the MachineDrum, I must be doing
something wrong.. Basically I would like to just key in multiple beats
on the fly and have it record and layer.

Cheers.

Press and hold REC, then press Play.

It's very easy - just check out the "Using the SPS-1 UW in a DJ-Setup"
section of the manual there is a good tutorial. However, instead of using a
turntable, plug in your 505 and 307 into the board. Here is a tip - use
midi on the MD to control your devices. Make sure you are in grid recording
mode and "Step 1" is triggered. When you hit the record button you will now
be in sync and can record up to 64-steps. Keep in mind the recording
continues to loop. When you have a loop you like untrigger your recording
RAM machine and trigger the first step on your RAM playback machine - adjust
levels. I use this setup with the MD UW MKII and the DSI Evolver desktop.
Works great. Good luck.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
