Can I download other custom kits into my MD from the internet?

Yes, via sysex transfers. If you have don't have a UW MD you'll have to make sure that the kits don't use RAM/ROM machines though. http://www.myspace.com/futureimagefutureimage http://www.futureimagerecords.tk http://www.futuresoundsystems.tk

Is that something that I can do with an M-Audio USB Uno 1x1 MIDI Interface? And, I have an SPS-1. --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, <futureimage@...> wrote: > > Yes, via sysex transfers. If you have don't have a UW MD you'll have to make sure that the kits don't use RAM/ROM machines though.

Yes, you'd ideally use the C6 app that's available for free on the Elektron.se site to tranfer the sysex and the samples to the MD. Very easy to use. So, I open up the app. Then do I go MIDI In or Out from the MD to USB? Both ideally, C6 can use in and out to make sure the samples are loaded correctly. If you only have one option, then you'd want to go from the midi out on the 1x1 to the midi in on the MD to load samples into it. I'm still unclear on how to create new kits from samples that I downloaded of a TR-909 AND TR-808 in C6. I've got an SPS-1. I went to KIT Load and chose an empty "slot".
The User's Manual doesn't tell me how to assign samples to each of
the 16 pads within that new kit that I just loaded, though.
Cheers.

No offense, but did you read the C6 manual, or the MD manual? Both are pretty straightforward on how to do this. The vanilla SPS-1 doesn't 'do' samples. The UW does.
If you do actually have a UW {look for "SPS-1 UW" on the
white part of the glass display}, which you have if you've
managed ot load samples onto the MDUW, then pick a track
{BD, or the first one}, hit the "kit" button, then select
Edit.
From the quick start document for hte MDUW:
The ROM machines are located in the KIT.>EDIT menu. The ROM
MD-synth is found as the second last of the SYNTH-list. The
ROM machines are labelled from ROM-01 to ROM-32.

Re-read this, please, and tell us what you see:

There is no UW next to the SPS-1 on my machine's LCD window. I'm
trying to find my answer in the Global Settings chapter of the
MachineDrum user's manual, though, since I could not find it in the
C6 user's manual.
Thanx.

You can't load samples. The only kits you can load will be Machinedrum kits, if someone will give some to you. For those, you should use C6.
