Sysex Transfers, cont.

2008-03-30 by Niall Munnelly

R,

I apologize if I sent you on a snark hunt wrt uploading
samples on the MD, but I read that you wanted to get some
808 and 909 kits onto it, and made the leap. Maybe you were
saying instead that you have some actual 808 and 909 presets
that you'd like to load - those naturally wouldn't work.

Whenever you have some kits to load, please read page 68 of
the manual, or this PDF:

I did a search for "909 samples" on google.com and found the sounds
of an 808 and 909, as .wav files, that I downloaded. I'd like to be
able to put them on my MD as two seperate kits with Uno and C6 as
well as, perphaps, other sounds that I may come across on the
internet or record (i.e. my drumset and cymbals and/or any other
metallic crashes or thumps that may be considered "found sounds" that
I might be able to create).

For that, you'll need a Machinedrum UW.

I have individual samples for each part of an 808 and 909 kit.
They're .wav files of a single BD, SD, CY, etc., etc. sounding off.
Just making sure ...

Or sounds, rather. What makes up a kit.

I don't know. I just wish I knew how to make new kits on my SPS-1
with C6, Audacity, and a sample recorder.

Re: [elektron] Re: Sysex Transfers, cont.

2008-03-30 by Robert Krueger

You can't. You don't have a SPS-1 UW. You have a regular vanilla SPS-1, not
the User Wave version. You can't use samples with your Machinedrum. All you
can do is tweak the different machines built into the Machinedrum into drum
sounds you like and save them.

So stop thinking about how you can get samples or .wav files, or any outside
audio sounds into your version of the MD, b/c it's impossible. Get that idea
out of your head. Start tweaking the drum machines and make some beats.
