Re: The sidstation is fucking weak -- a detailed explanation.

Wel, i think the sid is running off a 68hc11, or something like that at 2mhz, i think it has been said in this list like one year ago by Daniel who wrote the 20000 lines of asm code. I remember reading that the hardware was already being pushed close to the limit. Maybe i'm all wrong on that, it's what i can recall, Elektron correct me if i'm wrong... To prevent further disapointment when you buy gear, at least take a peek at the downloadable manual. The sidstation manual explains pretty much all the features... For my part, i think that 4 lfos that can xmod each others + midi-syncable wavetable programming are enhanced features that weren't in the original sid chip... I really like to code small sequences with the wavetable... much easier for me than trying to send the proper midi data on time... That's it, that's what i think about the whole thing for now... Perhaps you could post a website with C64 demos that i could check out in a C64 emulator, so i too can know that 63x 50hz refresh is awesome 'cause for now i have no idea how it sounds... xonox www.quikphix.org
