[elektron] 808 Machine?

[elektron] 808 Machine?

2001-12-27 by Steril 707

Blop,

Is there any plan to include something like a TR 808 Machine into the MD? i
tried to build a kit somehow similar to the 808, but somehow it didnt work
out.

The TRX Machine is nice, but reminds me more of a CR 78, i would like to see
something more 'hardsounding'...maybe its the new TRX-B Machine?

I considered buying a novation drumstation, but if it can be avoided i would
be happy...

ThX,
Steril

I agree with all of this!

I've made a kit thar people keep telling me sounds a lot like the
808. I started out with the trx-kit, and then tweaked to parameters
until I was satisfied with the sound.

If you can't do it with the available machines and tweaking their
parameters, then the only thing left is to give up. And buy a real
808! :)

If someone reminds me of this next week I can put up a sample loop.

Anyone who has perfected 606/909 sounds yet?

also i did, but its far from perfect...

thats not clever, the novation drumstation has far less CPU Power than the
Elektron MD and can simulate and 808/909, so i dont see any reason why
theres no possibilty to build a custom machine with the knobs of an 808
besides the great people at Elektron have other things in mind....

There are quite a few parameters on the 808 kick/snare/hihats/cymbals,
the other ones are fixed. Hmmm... I might have a go at trying to
perfect an 808 kit. No promises though.

True. The drumstation uses samples for the static sounds that cannot
be tweaked, and Analogue Sound Modelling for the other sounds (DSP stuff).

What do we want from the Machinedrum? Do we want the same good old
808/909 sounds (as found in the drumstation) or do we want new unheard
sounds?

The new kick drum machine should be more like a really hard dance
kick, as found in the XBase09 (or 909 if you prefer that). What we are
lacking right now is the snare and the crunchy hihats from the 909.

Some of us wants new unheard sounds, other wants the standard
sounds. My guess is that Elektron will give us both, given that they
have time and resources.

A friend of mine asked me today who I like the Machinedrum.

1. It is fun to work with and inspires me
2. Easily tweakable to get the right sounds
3. Good sound quality

Or both.

I think/hope so too.

4. Good built quality
5. Lots of I/O
6. A lot of synth power
and the list goes on. :-)
