Depends on the effect, but it's usually pretty good.  I use the filters 
and delay mostly.  Although I'll occasionally use the sample-rate 
reduction and amplitude modulation.  What's really nice is having 
multiple tracks processing the inputs with different effects and panning 
positions.  Instant weirdness.
